A view of reported human–wildlife conflict across the Tsavo landscape.
Read the map
Each location comes from the source incident layer. At wider map scales, nearby reports are grouped into numbered circles. Select a group to zoom in. At close scales, markers show the supplied coordinates, and larger markers contain reports at exactly the same position. Select a marker for its records. Concentration shows where reports cluster at the current zoom.
Report counts reflect recorded encounters and reporting effort. They do not measure animal abundance, future conflict probability or verified intervention benefit. Coordinate accuracy is not documented in the source metadata inspected for this viewer.
Explore together
Year, animal, conflict type, location and date filters update the map, report list and charts together. Use this map area selects a fixed geographic box. Panning afterwards does not change that selection. Copy view link preserves your filters, map position and visible layers. Seasonal summaries use only 2020–2023, intersected with your active filters. Protected areas and proposed zones remain geographic reference layers.
Proposed zones
The optional zones are the source author’s historical model screening, derived from a 250 m raster. They are proposed analytical areas that require field verification. Their source methodology and calibration have not been independently validated here.
